'A voice crystal clear'at once refined and deeply emotional' renowned classical Iranian singer Parissa sings the words of Rumi accompanied by two instrumentalists on tar (traditional plucked lute) and daf (frame drum). Interpretations of the 13th century poet reach into the heart, bringing the moving beauty of the poetry alive. her perfection lies in the pure simplicity with which she executes her art. Ethnomusicologists Steve Blum and Ameneh Youssefzadeh will provide an overview of Persian music in a FREE pre-performance lecture on both nights at 6:00PM.
