H.E. Imran Khan is the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party—which he founded in 1996. He won his seat in the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2002 to 2007, and again from 2013 to 2018. Prior to his entry into politics, he was a world class cricketer, and captain of Pakistan’s national team, which he led to the country’s 1992 Cricket World Cup victory. He served as UNICEF’s Special Representative for Sports, and promoted health and immunization programs in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. He also founded the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, a charity organization bearing the name of his mother, to construct a cancer treatment hospital.
