Fresh from his engaging turn on funnyman Stephen Colbert's Colbert Report earlier this week, author Reza Aslan stops by Asia Society New York next Thursday, November 18, to discuss his new anthology Tablet and Pen: Literary Landscapes from the Modern Middle East.
Tablet and Pen showcases Middle Eastern and South Asian writing from the years 1910-2010 and features such literary giants as Khalil Gibran, Orhan Pamuk, and Naguib Mahfouz.
Aslan, best-selling author of No God but God, will offer a context for a deeper understanding of Islamic artists as part of Asia Society's Creative Voices of Islam in Asia Initiative, and will be joined in conversation by the University of Iowa's Christopher Merrill.
Readings from, and musical performances inspired by, the anthology will be performed by special guests, followed by a book sale and signing.
