U.S.–China Music Forum
NEW YORK, October 10, 2023 — Music experts discuss the longstanding musical relations between the U.S. and China and how best to continue developing this relationship amid political tensions. Speakers include Leon Botstein, president of Bard College; Chen Yi, Lorena Searcy Cravens/ Millsap/ Missouri distinguished professor of composition at the University of Missouri; and Gary Ginstling, president and CEO of New York Philharmonic. Yu Hongmei, vice president of the Central Conservatory of Music in China, delivered opening remarks while Jindong Cai, director of the U.S.-China Music Institute at Bard College Conservatory of Music, hosted the program and moderated the discussion with Asia Society Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations Orville Schell. This year's forum is presented in conjunction with the sixth annual China Now Music Festival, The Bridge of Music, a series of concerts and discussions at Bard College and in New York City from October 2-8, 2023.
