Hacking the Syllabus: Critical Solidarities with Ananya Chatterjea and Thomas F. DeFrantz
NEW YORK, October 19, 2020 — Dr. Ananya Chatterjea, choreographer, dancer, and professor of theatre arts and dance at the University of Minnesota, delivers her lecture How Do We Dance Now? Moving in Alignment with the Uprising. Following her address, she was joined in conversation Dr. Thomas F. DeFrantz, professor in the Department of African and African American Studies and the Dance Program at Duke University. Hacking the Syllabus: Critical Solidarities is a three-part series that shares powerful perspectives of educator-activists and resources they’ve created, syllabi, to equalize access to knowledge and disseminate paths for learning. The series explores building solidarities, including Asian and Black racial alliances, through an intersectional lens and covers various disciplines, including dance, feminism, and Asian American studies.
