Eileen Chang at 100
NEW YORK, September 29, 2020 — Born a century ago, the Shanghai-born author, essayist, and screenwriter Eileen Chang's literary legacy spans continents and remains influential to this day. To mark the hundredth anniversary of her birth, Asia Society Museum assembled a panel of Chang scholars to discuss her life, work, and influence. Panelists included UCLA Professor of Contemporary Chinese Cultural Studies Michael Berry, Director of the Cheng Shewo Institute of Chinese Journalism at Shih Hsin University in Taipei Eileen Cheng-Yin Chow, and Brown University Associate Professor of History and East Asian Studies Rebecca Nedostup.
