China Books Review Launch
NEW YORK, October 12, 2023 — Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations and The Wire China launch China Books Review, a new publication of commentaries on China writings new and old, with an event featuring three generations of writers discussing the evolution of China watching throughout the decades. Participants include Dave Barboza, co-founder of The Wire Digital Inc.; Yangyang Cheng, research scholar in Law and Fellow at Yale Law School’s Paul Tsai China Center; Jiayang Fan, journalist and staff writer at The New Yorker; Ian Johnson, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, researcher, and senior fellow for China Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations; Amb. Winston Lord, former U.S. Ambassador to China; Orville Schell, Arthur Ross director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations at Asia Society; and Jianying Zha, writer, journalist, and cultural critic.
