September 20, 2021 — Justin Chon, director and star of Blue Bayou, discusses his new film in a conversation with Academy Governor-at-Large Janet Yang. The conversation followed Asia Society Southern California and Focus Features' special screening of Blue Bayou, a heartbreaking story of immigration, identity, and family, and an official selection of the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. 

Blue Bayou tells the story of Antonio LeBlanc (Chon), a Korean adoptee raised in a small town in the Louisiana bayou, who is married to the love of his life, Kathy (Alicia Vikander), and is stepdad to her daughter Jessie. Struggling to make a better life for his family, Antonio must confront the ghosts of his past when he discovers that he could be deported from the only country he has ever called home.
