NEW YORK, May 23, 2018 — In a lunchtime ceremony at the organization's New York headquarters, Asia Society honors Reuters journalists Wa Lone and Kyah Soe Oo with the 2018 Osborn Elliott Prize for Excellence in Journalism on Asia for their coverage of Myanmar's Rohingya crisis. Wa and Kyah were unable to attend due to having been detained by Myanmar authorities last December. Following the presentation of the award, NPR correspondent Deborah Amos moderated a discussion on contemporary Myanmar with Kevin Krolicki and Shoon Naing of Reuters as well as journalist Lawi Weng.
