Smith, Professor of Music and Department Chair, University of Notre Dame, explores the relationship between Schumann and Brahms in terms of both their lives and musical compositions. After the presentation, two sonatas for violin and piano, one by Schumann and one by Brahms, are performed live by University of Notre Dame faculty members Tricia Park (violin) and Daniel Schlosberg (piano).
