Our speaker, Alice Wang, portfolio manager & luxury industry specialist at Quaero Capital, and a specialist of Chinese political thought and Yale graduate, with an in-depth knowledge of Chinese history, will contextualize the French influence on China. Alice is also a frequent commentator on broader investment trends in China and across Asia and she has been published widely across the global financial media.
Our friend and member, Arnaud Favry, Senior Director of Public & Governmental Affairs at bioMérieux will moderate this discussion. He holds a degree in Chinese Language and Civilization from l’Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales - INALCO - where he also studied at Peking University, a degree in Political Sciences & Asian Studies from Sciences Po and is an M.B.A. graduate of Harvard Business School.
These two Asia 21 Next Generation Fellows will discuss theories around why Wang Qishan asked all party members to read Tocqueville's L'Ancien Regime, how current Chinese economic policies might reflect some of the learnings from the book, and the current malaise around the future of the luxury market for Chinese consumers.
