The Global Competence Symposium
VIEW EVENT DETAILSThe Global Competence Symposium will be held at Shibuya Conference Center in Tokyo, Japan, on March 8, 2018, co-hosted by the Center for Global Education at Asia Society, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the University of Tokyo, and the Japan Innovative Schools Network, and with support from the Benesse Corporation and Citi Foundation. The symposium will share key findings from Teaching for Global Competence in a Rapidly Changing World, a new publication from the Center for Global Education and OECD.
Speakers include Tony Jackson, Vice President of Education and Director of the Center for Global Education at Asia Society; Andreas Schleicher, Director of the Directorate of Education and Skills at OECD; Kan Suzuki, member of the Center for Global Education Advisory Council, Ministerial Aide and Chief Policy Officer, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan and former Japanese State Minister of Education; Shinichi Yamanaka, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria and former Vice Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan; Kiyomi Akita, professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Education; and representatives from the Hiroshima Prefectural Board of Education and Kaetsu High School.
Hiroshima was featured in the publication as an example of how educators and education systems are embedding global competence into their exiting curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
