725 Salon: Prof. Qin Hui
VIEW EVENT DETAILSBridging Divides: Unraveling Misunderstandings Between China and the World
The benefits of globalization are being called into question around the world.
Why has this historical trend, which was once seen as something that would benefit both the East and the West, the Global North and the Global South, suddenly encountered such resistance? How will this resistance reshape our future?
In this session of the 725 Salon, we invite renowned Chinese historian Qin Hui to unravel some of the most significant misunderstandings and misconceptions of the idea of globalization centered on China’s shifting position in the global economic framework since its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in December 2001. We will explore the origins of these misunderstandings and their causal relationships to our current predicament. Most crucially, we will discuss how these historical shifts have shaped and continue to shape the future of the world we live in.
The talk will be conducted in Mandarin with AI-generated English subtitles, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Tickets to this event include a free guided tour of the COAL + ICE exhibition. If you are interested in joining us, please arrive at Asia Society by 5 PM.
