Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan: Where Do We Stand Today

Ryan Crocker.

As Iraq's fractious political parties edge closer to forming a national government, the fighting continues hot in Afghanistan, with NATO forces pursuing a vigorous offensive against the Taliban and al Qaeda. Meanwhile, in neighboring Pakistan the United States remains caught in a tense dance with that country's civilian and military leadership over what to do about terrorist safe havens in the western regions.

Where we stand today and prospects for success in the region is the topic of a special luncheon conversation featuring:

Ryan Crocker, former US Ambassador to Iraq and Afghanistan and Dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University

Lt. Gen. John R. Allen, Deputy Commander, United States Central Command

Moderated by Edward P. Djerejian, former US Ambassador to Israel and Syria and Dean of the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University.
