Directed by Academy and Emmy award-winner Jeffrey D. Brown and executive produced by two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson, Sold follows Lakshmi, a 13-year-old girl who travels from a pastoral, rural village in Nepal to a sordid brothel called "Happiness House" in Kolkata, India. This poignant film, adapted from Patricia McCormick’s globally acclaimed book and based on true events, not only illustrates the brutality of child trafficking but also juxtaposes India's harsh realities with its beautiful landscape. Sold addresses the crime of child trafficking domestically and internationally and seeks to raise pertinent dialogue concerning this human rights issue.

The screening will be followed by a Q & A with director Jeffrey D. Brown and producer Jane Charles and a reception.
