Indonesia Votes
“The blowout victory of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in last week’s election is a strong public affirmation of his government’s steps to address corruption and improve governance in Indonesia,” says Asia Society Executive Vice President Jamie Metzl.
“President Yudhoyono will now need to move even more strongly to build upon this strong public mandate. The very fact that these free and fair elections were held without major glitches is an important next step in the evolution of Indonesia democracy.”
