About the Conference

The National Chinese Language Conference (NCLC) is the largest annual convening in the United States and North America that brings together leaders and practitioners in the field of Chinese language and culture education and U.S.-China education partnership. It is dedicated to enhancing the capacity for teaching and learning of Chinese language culture by sharing cutting–edge practices and examples with educators and policymakers. Through the unique forum of the NCLC, the organizers aim to encourage dialogue and coordination of efforts in the field of Chinese language education and to promote wide-scale success.
During the past 13 years, the conference has traveled across the U.S. (to Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, San Diego, two times to Chicago, and three times to Washington, D.C.). Each conference features prominent speakers and national trends, and also highlights local resources and expertise. Attendance at the event has grown over the years and nearly 4,000 educators attended in 2020 virtually. The conference has cumulatively attracted 18,600 national, state, and local educational leaders; school principals and teachers; higher education faculty; and representatives of international and professional organizations from all across the U.S. and a dozen countries and regions globally. The growing presence of the NCLC is both a testament of and a catalyst for the movement to prepare students for a globalized world.
