AsiaFest Celebrates Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
May 16 -17, 2015 — Asia Society’s inaugural AsiaFest celebrated the vibrancy of Asian culture, creativity, and cuisine in Houston. More than 2,000 guests enjoyed engaging and diverse performances, demonstrations, activities, and vendors. Performances of dance, music, martial arts, and storytelling spotlighted China, India, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and beyond. Creative family friendly activities included sari tying, henna, calligraphy, and more. Along with Jade Stone Café, nearly a dozen local food trucks sated the crowds’ appetites. For a full review of performers and other offerings, visit the AsiaFest 2015 website.
AsiaFest would not have been possible without generous support from New Era Life Insurance Companies, The City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance, Taiwanese Heritage Society of Houston, and Asian American Giving Circle of Greater Houston. Promotional and community support came from Asian Pacific American Heritage Association, India Culture Center, Taiwanese Heritage Society of Houston, Korean-American Society of Houston, Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Houston, Filipino Young Professionals, Chinese American Citizens Alliance, and University of Houston Downtown.
