BusinessWorld‘s Exclusive Online Interview Series to tackle leadership and resilience in the ‘new normal'
As part of BusinessWorld’s 33rd multimedia anniversary report, BusinessWorld is launching a series of exclusive online interviews dubbed as “BusinessWorld One-on-One”.
Hinged on BusinessWorld’s overall anniversary theme of “The Road to Recovery”, the online interview series, will zero in on the topic “A Time for Leadership & Resilience” as the pandemic’s unprecedented socioeconomic impact has left government and private sector leaders searching for playbooks to help them navigate a fast-changing landscape of challenges.
With the country slowly stepping into the 'new normal' and at the same time continuously fighting COVID-19, the business community is called to collectively navigate the road to recovery and adapt further towards resiliency against future crises.
BusinessWorld One-on-One, which will run on July 20 to 24 at 11 a.m. in BusinessWorld and The Philippine STAR’s Facebook pages, will carry a wide-ranging discussion between BusinessWorld's editor-in-chief Wilfredo G. Reyes and top global and local executives on how leadership and resilience are being tested in the fight against COVID-19.
Joo-Ok Lee, head of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) regional agenda at World Economic Forum (WEF), will be asked how companies and economies should embrace the new normal while sharing his experiences on how the organization has been dealing with the crisis. Mr. Lee is in charge of WEF's institutional collaboration with governments and public sector stakeholders in the APAC region, as well as in organizing the Forum's flagship meeting in the region, the WEF in ASEAN.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel P. Maceda, worldwide managing partner of Bain & Company, will be asked about his outlook on the country’s business landscape as it thrives from COVID-19 and the need for businesses to change their approach in current operating conditions. Mr. Maceda has specialty in working with large corporate transformations involving strategy, growth, cost reduction, performance improvement, and organizational effectiveness.
Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of MVP Group of Cmmpanies and one of the country's most notable executives whose leadership encompasses from telecommunications to media, will share his thoughts on the fields being shaped by the pandemic such as education and food production, as well as various trends that will impact the new normal including telemedicine and the national ID system.
How the crisis has been shaping the insurance industry, its business segments, and markets will be the focus of the discussion with Nina D. Aguas, executive chairman of Insular Life Assurance Company Ltd. With over 30 years of experience in leading various businesses, Ms. Aguas is recognized for growing and defending large existing ones in highly competitive and challenging environments and through difficult economic cycles — from the Asian crisis to the recent global financial crisis.
Ernest L. Cu, chief executive officer of Globe Telecom, will be asked about how one of the country's telecommunications giants have adapted to the pandemic as it further heightened the demand for connectivity. Mr. Cu is recognized for the purpose-led transformation Globe embarked in 2016 under his visionary leadership.
