Business leader Henrietta Holsman Fore, a former senior U.S. Government official who served as the first female chief of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), was appointed Co-Chair of the Asia Society Board of Trustees in June 2011.

Fore is in Sydney to meet senior Australia business leaders with interests in the Asian region. She will also take the opportunity to discuss some of the significant initiatives that the Asia Society is undertaking in the region in 2012.

Henrietta Holsman Fore is Chairman and CEO of Holsman International, an investment and management company involved in U.S. and international business. From 2007 to 2009, Fore served as Administrator of USAID and Director of U.S. Foreign Assistance, holding the equivalent rank of Deputy Secretary of State. Between 2005 and 2007 she was Undersecretary of State for Management. Prior to this she served as the Director of the U.S. Mint in the Department of Treasury from 2001 to 2005. Between 1989 and 1992, she was Assistant Administrator for Asia and for Asia and Private Enterprise, and served as the Founding Chair of the US-Asia Environmental Partnership.

Fore is a board member of Theravance, Inc. (THRX) and Diagnostics for All. She is a Trustee of the Asia Society, Aspen Institute, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. She is co-Chair of WomenCorporateDirectors. She serves on the Boards of the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, Center for Global Development, and Women’s Foreign Policy Group. She is on the Leadership Council of the Initiative for Global Development, co-Chair of the Global Heritage Fund Diplomatic Council, and is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Poverty and Development Finance.
