The lunch discussion will be an opportunity to share perspectives on opportunities and challenges in Australia’s bilateral relationship with the Ambassador-designate ahead of his posting to Beijing.
This is being held only days after Prime Minister Albanese meets with President Xi Jinping and the first visit by an Australian Prime Minister to China in seven years.

About our Speaker
Scott Dewar, Ambassador-designate to China, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Scott has extensive experience in the fields of defence, security and international policy in Australia and overseas, and as an adviser to both Coalition and Labor governments.
Before commencing as HOM-designate Beijing, Scott worked at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) supporting the Prime Minister across the breadth of national security and international policy issues pertaining to key Government priorities.
Prior to joining PM&C, Scott served at the Department of Defence, managing Australia’s international defence relationships, developing policy for the acquisition of nuclear-powered submarines and as Director of the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation.
Scott holds a Master of Arts in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Melbourne. He speaks Mandarin, Japanese and Korean. Scott is married with three sons.
