HONG KONG, May 18, 2015 — A written symbol can be regarded as meaningful and meaningless at the same time; in the manner in which quantum physics tells us that something can exist and non-exist simultaneously. This essential theory of quantum physics manifests in the works of the artist Espen Cook. He explores the relationship between sign and meaning. Inspired by traditional Chinese paintings, Cook’s practice relates to both Eastern traditional techniques and materials, and to Western contemporary culture. Cook presents his body of work, and the genesis of the Unknown Quantum Connection at an evening discussion.
