Docent Recruitment
Asia Society is looking to add a small number of committed individuals to join our docent program. Docents are responsible for giving public tours to both adult and school groups. Docents are trained by museum curators, scholars working in the field of Asian Studies and museum educators for each exhibition.
The unpaid, volunteer docent program is active year-round. Docents are required to attend all training sessions as well as be available for a minimum of four tours per month. Each docent must agree to give at least one weekend tour per month.
It is not necessary that you be an expert in Asian art, but you must enjoy studying and learning. You must be comfortable speaking in public to diverse audiences. This is a wonderful opportunity to widen your world, learn new skills or sharpen old ones.
Please complete our volunteer application (indicating your preference for "docent") and mail it back to the address above. Thank you.
