Planned Giving
Any gift to Asia Society Australia is an act of generosity. To make a planned gift to underscore your work of a lifetime is a significant commitment. Careful planning will ensure that you will achieve your desired impact and objectives for you, your family and Asia Society.
By giving, you unlock the potential of our Australian leaders and emerging leaders by building global competency and developing important connections across sectors for the benefit of our society and the Asia region.
Along with providing valuable support, there are often significant tax benefits that accompany planned gifts. You may be able to take advantage of one or more of the following:
- Immediate tax deductibility on your charitable giving
- Recognition from Asia Society Australia
- Potential naming opportunities on Asia Society Australia programs including fellowships
Planned giving that includes provisions for Asia Society Australia can take a variety of forms including:
- A gift in your Will
- A single or multi-year major gift towards a general or specific program in your lifetime
- Direct annual distributions from your trust or Public Ancillary Fund (sub-fund)

Leaving a gift in your Will
You can leave a lasting legacy and ensure that the Asia-Australia relationship benefits from your generosity by bequeathing a gift to Asia Society Australia in your Will or trust distributions. It is a very personal way to identify what is important to you, and allows you to give in a way that will continue to advance Australia’s security and prosperity in Asia.

Specific bequests
If you would like to direct your gift to a specific purpose at Asia Society Australia – for example donating to a particular program or setting up a fellowship fund – please contact Andrew Deane in the Asia Society Australia Business Development team for sample wording or clauses to ensure your vision for Asia Society Australia is captured in your Will.
When accepting a bequest which has a specific purpose, Asia Society Australia is legally and ethically obliged to observe that purpose. Over time there may be program/demand changes that make it impossible or impractical to meet the specific purpose stated in your Will.
Sample clause
When giving to Asia Society Australia for a specific purpose, please consider including the following provision in your will:
If at any time Asia Society Australasia Centre determines that it is impossible or impractical to fulfil the purpose of my bequest, the centre may apply the bequest for a related purpose that will most nearly accomplish the purpose or is consonant with the spirit and intent of my bequest.
