This time we will read Klara and the Sun by Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro. We were looking for a tech dystopia (longer story) and came up with this short list (in case you are looking for further reading):
- Harry Kunzru‘s Transmission
- Chi Ta-Wei‘s The Membranes
- Kazuo Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun
- Kim Bo-young's I'm Waiting for You
- Kunzang Choden's The Circle of Karma (not a tech dystopia but a book that came up around one of the latest Asia Society webcasts on Bhutan)

About Klara and the Sun (publisher's description):
The novel tells the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass on the street outside. She remains hopeful that a customer will soon choose her. The book offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and one that explores the fundamental question: what does it mean to love?
Reviews: LA Review of Books, The Guardian, The New York Times.
