Klaas Knot has been President of the Netherlands’ central bank, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), since 2011. In this capacity he is a member of the Governing Council and the General Council of the European Central Bank, as well as Governor of the International Monetary Fund. Professor Knot is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements. Since 2005, he has been Economics of Central Banking Professor at the University of Groningen. Before joining the Governing Board of DNB, Professor Knot was Deputy Treasurer-General and Director of Financial Markets at the Dutch Ministry of Finance. Professor Knot received his undergraduate degree and doctorate in economics from the University of Groningen.
In his speech, Professor Knot will present his view on the Euro zone crisis, the measures taken and (required to be taken) to resolve it, as well as the Euro zone’s role in the global economy.
