In 2016, Markus Zusak said of his then-unfinished novel, ‘I’ve got to get it done this year, or else I’ll probably finally have to set it aside’. Now, more than ten years after its initial conception, Bridge of Clay has finally been released. Both touching and achingly raw, Bridge of Clay is the coming-of-age story of five brothers who must unravel and then reconcile themselves with the secret behind their father’s disappearance. Zusak will discuss family, honour, greatness and loss: the themes that make up an unlikely yet brilliant bridge. This session will be moderated by Dr. Nicholas Luke.
