2016 U.S.-China Film Summit 

Now in its Seventh year, Asia Society Southern California’s U.S.-China Film Summit is the most prestigious U.S. event uniting Hollywood and Chinese film-industry leaders to discuss collaboration and market trends. Since 2010, the Film Summit has led the conversation about U.S.-Chinese film co-production, cross-border investment and the integration of Chinese and American talent. This rapidly expanding event attracts high-level, high-impact speakers and attendees and generates international media coverage.

The 2016 U.S.-China Film Summit will highlight animation, digital and immersive entertainment and the development of trans-Pacific talent and financing. It will also introduce “Executive Spotlight” and “Talent Spotlight” segments featuring intimate, provocative conversations with leading U.S.-China film players. 

The Summit will also include a special awards presentation recognizing writer and director, Cao Baoping, introduced by WU Manfang, Dean, School of Management, Beijing Film Academy.

U.S.-China Film Talent Award

CAO BAOPING

A writer and director, will be honored for his award-winning storytelling. He has explored human emotions with subtlety as well as directed compelling crime dramas that are both dark and humorous. Cao won Best Director at the 2015 Shanghai International Film Festival for The Dead End. He has won “new talent” awards in China and Europe and was selected by the Sundance Institute for its exclusive Screenwriters Lab. Cao graduated from the Beijing Film Academy and taught screenwriting there for many years.
