On Food and Cultural Diplomacy with the Platts
HONG KONG, February 9, 2015 — Asia Society Hong Kong Center celebrated its third anniversary at its home in Admiralty with the 8th Ambassador Burton Levin Lecture Series. With the RTHK Quartet unveiling the program with a special orchestral performance of classical music, guests enjoyed an evening of intellectual exchange between former U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Platt and his sons, food critic Adam Platt and actor Oliver Platt, on what the family knows best, among many other topics — food and cultural diplomacy.
Apart from fulfilling their food for thought, the audience was also served a special menu inspired from the popular culinary film Chef, complete with the famous Cubano from the movie.
The night ended with enthusiastic questions from the audience ranging from the distinction between "food bloggers" and "food critics" to resolving political difficulties with food diplomacy.
