Volunteers and Docents
We're seeking volunteers who are excited to join our mission of advancing cultural exchange! Join us to celebrate the diversity of Asia, inspire empathy, and foster a better understanding of our interconnected world while helping our guests enjoy great art, speakers, and innovative programming.
An essential part of our team, volunteers and docents assist Asia Society Texas in putting forward more than 150 public programs each year. In addition to enjoying programming at no cost while volunteering, volunteers and docents enjoy opportunities to meet new people including artists and authors, support local communities and small businesses, and amplify AAPI and BIPOC voices and projects. Volunteers and docents also receive free parking, are eligible for our annual appreciation event, and may request reference letters for university, scholarship, or job applications.
Apply to join us for opportunities in cultural events and educational activities, including live performing arts, film screenings, policy discussions, visual art exhibitions, street festivals, and educational programs for K–12 students and adults!

Teen Council
The Asia Society Texas Teen Council is a cohort of teens engaging in year-round programming designed to uplift and amplify student voices representing the diversity of Houston. Throughout the program, teens will learn about diverse cultures, develop cross-cultural communication skills, and build global competency.
Join a group of up to 20 high school students to design programs and resources that make Asia Society Texas a more welcoming, accessible, and relevant space for Houston-area youth!
Internships
Asia Society Texas’ internship program focuses on providing high school and college-aged students with opportunities to master technical skills, gain essential background knowledge, foster interpersonal skills, and build a network of educational and professional contacts. Through opportunities to build work experience, interns expand their understanding of global affairs and current events that touch upon Asia and Asian America, program development, museum operations, and nonprofit work. The internship also deepens existing relationships and establishes new relationships with high schools, universities, and other community organizations engaged in AST programming.
Open internship positions are typically posted in late summer (August – September) for Fall Semester Internships, and in spring (April – May) for Summer internships. All new internship positions will be posted on our Work With Us page.
Paid internships at Asia Society Texas are made possible with support from Regions Bank. Internship opportunities are posted as they are available.
