Asia in the Classroom
Envisioned by leaders from various sectors; guided by educators, a Scholar Circle, students, and community partners; and built by award-winning design firms, the comprehensive online hub Asia in the Classroom is designed to support educators by providing accessible classroom resources for teaching about Asia and Asian American experiences.
Asia in the Classroom offers student- and educator-facing resources with the following components:
- Adventures of Asia: Through online graphic novels and compelling narratives, students will explore local and global perspectives in both historical and contemporary settings. Featuring webcomic artwork, TEKS-aligned narratives, and assessment checkpoints, these novels are available at no charge for students.
- Educator Portal: Find lesson guides designed by scholars, curriculum specialists, and community partners to support TEKS-driven instruction in the classroom. The humanities-centered content evokes critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills for students K–16.
Updated monthly with new resources, Asia in the Classroom will create an environment of intercultural exchange for your students. Customized professional development for educators and student field trips are also available to complement the Asia in the Classroom experience.
Educator Professional Development
Educators are our priority. Asia Society Texas offers robust professional development opportunities to enhance educators’ content knowledge and uplift new ideas for the classroom. Educators will have opportunities to engage directly with content experts, scholars, and community partners through workshops via on-demand modules, live virtual events, and in-person workshops and institutes.
Customized professional development for groups is available for a fee. In-person professional development at Asia Society Texas ranges from free to minimal fees.
