Seoul Music: Korean Sanjo Meets New York Jazz (Complete)

NEW YORK, May 19, 2018 — A form of Korean music that originated from indigenous shaman culture, sanjo performances traditionally include a soloist interacting and improvising with the rhythms of the janggo (double-headed drum). In this contemporary interpretation of the genre, acclaimed sanjo musicians are joined on stage by Grammy-winning jazz artists for a performance that encompasses Korean music, American jazz and blues, and klezmer traditions.
