Shrinking Spaces: Indigenous Peoples on the Frontlines of the Climate Crisis
NEW YORK, October 10, 2024 — An expert panel examines the challenges Indigenous peoples face due to rising sea levels and natural disasters, as well as the support the international community can provide. Speakers include Nina Kantcheva, senior policy adviser on Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Engagement at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); Dr. Arpitha Kodiveri, environmental law and justice scholar and assistant professor of political science at Vassar College; and Binalakshmi “Bina” Nepram, senior adviser on Indigenous issues for the religion and inclusive societies team at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP).
