Maḏayin Exhibition Opening: Introductory Remarks
NEW YORK, September 16, 2024 — Asia Society celebrates the opening of the exhibition Maḏayin: Eight Decades of Aboriginal Australian Bark Painting from Yirrkala with a preview. Delivering the introductory remarks to the ceremony are Dr. Kyung-wha Kang, president and CEO of Asia Society; Yasufumi Nakamori, director of Asia Society Museum and vice president of Arts and Culture at Asia Society; Professor Brenda L Croft, Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser chair of Australian Studies at Harvard University; and Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, U.S. ambassador to Australia. The Maḏayin exhibition is organized by the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia in partnership with the Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Centre in Australia.
