NEW YORK, October 5, 2024 — In honor of Javanese composer, musician, and teacher I.M. Harjito, Asia Society hosts this concert that features compositions he has written for Javanese gamelan, both in the traditional form and new hybrid works. The concert celebrates the 75th anniversary of the U.S.-Indonesia diplomatic relations. Mr. Harjito has made immense contributions to the cultural interactions between the U.S. and Indonesia over the last forty years. (51 min., 6 sec.)
