[The Japan-U.S. Alliance] U.S.-Japan Initiatives and Their Future under New Leaders
NEW YORK, January 15, 2025 — In the first panel of Asia Society Policy Institute’s (ASPI) two-part conference focused on the Japan-U.S. alliance, experts assess the U.S.-Japan relationship and their various bilateral initiatives. Speakers include Matthew Goodman, distinguished fellow and director of the Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies and Director of the CFR Real Econ Initiative; Mira Rapp-Hooper, special assistant to the President and senior director for East Asia and Oceania, U.S. National Security Council; Takako Hikotani, senior fellow of ASPI Tokyo; and Masafumi Ishii, former ambassador of Japan to Indonesia.
