Flashpoint Taiwan: Virtual Launch Event and Panel Discussion for the Taiwan Policy Database
September 11, 2024 — On July 31, 2024, Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis (CCA) launched the Taiwan Policy Database, a one-of-a-kind interactive website highlighting the evolution of policies that have shaped cross-strait relations from three different perspectives: the United States, the People’s Republic of China, and Taiwan. To commemorate the website’s official launch and discuss its utility, Lyle J. Morris, CCA senior fellow on Foreign Policy and National Security, speaks with a panel of experts: Raymond F. Burghardt, president of the Pacific Century Institute, previously U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, and former Chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan; Rorry Daniels, managing director of the Asia Society Policy Institute and senior fellow at CCA; Wen-Ti Sung, nonresident fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub; and XIN Qiang, director of the Center for Taiwan Studies and deputy director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
