2020 Teachers Workshop: Artificial Intelligence and Implicit Bias
August 1, 2020 — Asia Society Northern California hosted its first-ever virtual Teachers Workshop on July 31-August 1, 2020 on the theme "Technology and Humanity: Contemporary China and Asia for K-12 Grade Classrooms" in partnership with the 1990 Institute. Moderated by Clay Dube, director of the U.S.-China Institute at University of Southern California, this session on artificial intelligence and implicit bias features L. Song Richardson, dean and chancellor’s professor of law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law. Richardson discusses ways in which artificial intelligence systems perpetuate societal biases and how we can overcome implicit biases inside the classroom. (58 min., 39 sec.)
