Intern Spotlight: Nuria Latter
Get Involved!
Asia Society Texas works with high school and university interns each semester through our Regions Bank Young Leaders Internship program. Under this program, we have partnered with various high schools and universities in the Greater Houston area to provide opportunities for students to engage with the broad swath of programs offered by Asia Society and learn more about nonprofit operations. Interns have worked in program development, research and curriculum-writing, outreach efforts, accounting and finance, and more. Through their time with Asia Society Texas, interns learn more about Asian art, history, and culture while gaining direct experience in a professional environment.
We'd like to shine a spotlight on one of our interns, Nuria Latter, who was able to learn various time and age systems by working on a Korean Age System lesson plan!

Quick Facts
Name: Nuria Latter
School: Post Oak School
Date of Internship: September 2023 – May 2024
Favorite project you’ve worked on during your internship: My favorite project I have worked on is my Korean Age System lesson plan. It has been so much fun being able to do all this research about different forms of time and age systems. I love that the work I'm doing now is going to be able to help and teach so many people — students and teachers included. It's great to know that I actually get to contribute and do something meaningful.
Most interesting thing you’ve learned during your internship: Honestly, the most interesting thing I've learned is just how to better delegate tasks, construct a proper resume, write a proper email, and work in a professional environment. Since I'm new to the work world, it has been an amazing experience being able to work with experienced people hands-on. I get to see firsthand how to handle different takes and experiences.
Reflection
I have loved working at Asia Society Texas. I feel that working here has really helped me grow and learn to take advantage of different events and opportunities. Every time I attend an event, I get to meet some amazing new people, and I love that I'm able to network and create new relationships. I also love how trusted I am and how many responsibilities I've been given because they allow me to learn and grow not only as a worker but also as a person. I am so happy and lucky that I was given the chance to participate in and contribute to Asia Society Texas, and I can't wait to continue!
