Intern Spotlight: Leila Pitre
Get Involved!
Asia Society Texas works with high school and university interns each semester through our Regions Bank Young Leaders Internship program. Under this program, we have partnered with various high schools and universities in the Greater Houston area to provide opportunities for students to engage with the broad swath of programs offered by Asia Society and learn more about nonprofit operations. Interns have worked in program development, research and curriculum-writing, outreach efforts, accounting and finance, and more. Through their time with Asia Society Texas, interns learn more about Asian art, history, and culture while gaining direct experience in a professional environment.
We'd like to shine a spotlight on one of our interns, Leila Pitre, who enjoyed working on Asia Society Texas' online learning platform Asia in the Classroom!

Reflection
I really enjoyed being at Asia Society Texas. I found it really fun to be a part of the museum and to be able to work on different projects and learn more about different Asian cultures. I hope to take a lot of the cultural knowledge I’ve gained and continue to learn more and connect with friends and family more as well. I also hope to take my work experience here and grow as an employee in future business ventures. I especially enjoyed working at Culture Camp and visiting different places including BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. It was a very memorable experience that I don't think I would have had the chance to do on my own. Although I'm still unclear on what I would like to do in the future, I am happy that I gained work experience because now I'm a bit more confident about what I’ll decide to do.
