Join Asia Society Texas for a special dance performance hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Houston, proudly inviting the Jeju Island Dance Company to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Republic of Korea and the U.S. Through the marvelous performances of the Jeju Island Dance Company, Jeju Island's unique culture and historical characteristics will be vividly portrayed under the theme of the island's four seasons.
About the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Dance Company
Founded with the aim of promoting local culture and arts in Jeju Island and enhancing the residents' right to enjoy culture, the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Dance Company has established itself as a professional dance group leading the future of "our dance" through aesthetic communication in line with the globality and the trend of the times, encompassing the contemporary sense as the basis of history and tradition. Efforts are being made to get closer to the residents through various artistic activities such as regular performances, planned performances, and visiting performances, and the horizon of the world of works is expanding through the constant challenge and integration of new and diverse forms above Jeju's unique identity. It is in charge of the role as a cultural envoy which widely promotes ‘Jeju’ through the development and repertoire of various works that make use of Jeju's unique culture and historical characteristics, and is widely regarded as one of the top performance organizations through vigorous performance activities at home and abroad.
Education and Outreach programs at Asia Society Texas Center are presented by Wells Fargo.
