Serving countless newlyweds in Hong Kong's go-to one-stop shop of cheap wedding supplies doesn't exempt Fong from social pressure to marry. Feature film My Prince Edward zeroes in on the nuts and bolts of modern marriage. Like a breath of fresh air, through the female protagonist Fong, writer-director Norris Wong reclaims her home city's narrative in a movie that will make you wholeheartedly cheer for a woman's independence and a new age in Hong Kong cinema.
Asia Society Texas Center, in partnership with Houston Cinema Arts Society and HAAPI Film Fest, presents the Texas premiere of My Prince Edward as part of the 12th annual Houston Cinema Arts Festival.
Following the film will be a Q&A with director Norris Wong and Hong Kong film scholar and HCAS board member Karen Fang. The film and Q&A are available for 48 hours beginning 7:30 p.m. Central Time on November 17.
