Welcome the Persian New Year at our vibrant Nowruz celebration! Enjoy an afternoon packed with music, creative crafts, and enchanting storytelling for the whole family. Join special performances by Dorian, a Houston-based ensemble of Iranian virtuosos making their debut at Asia Society Texas, as well as the Zoroastrian Association of Houston.
About the Performances
Dorian presents a captivating fusion of traditional Persian instruments — such as the enchanting Taar and rhythmic Tonbak — blending seamlessly with piano, flute, and violin. This exclusive set features songs inspired by the spirit of Nowruz, celebrating renewal, joy, and unity through music. Experience the beauty of Persian melodies in an unforgettable celebration of the Persian New Year.
The Zoroastrian Association of Houston transports the viewers to share a glimpse of paradise or "paeridaeza," a Persian term for green walled spaces or gardens that began from the time of King Cyrus in 550 BC and influenced gardens around the world to modern times. The performance includes a rich repertoire of music and dances from different cultures and countries with colorful costumes of the period and digital imagery, keeping audiences enthralled as we welcome the advent of springtime.
