Screen Asia: 10th Annual Houston Asian Pacific American Film Festival

2014 marks the 10th anniversary of the Annual Houston Asian Pacific American Film Festival. The Festival is free, open to the public, and focuses on film art created by and spotlighting Asian Pacific Islander Americans (APIA). Asia Society Texas Center is proud to be one of the host sites for the 2014 Festival.

This Festival, presented by OCA-Greater Houston, aims to entertain and educate audiences about Asian Pacific American artists and filmmakers. Through partnerships with community organizations, the Festival brings attendees together to appreciate the diversity and commonalities of the APIA community.

The Festival runs June 20-22 and 27-28 at multiple locations around Houston. Find more information at HoustonAPAFilmFestival.com.

Life on Four Strings
 

Life on Four Strings
Director: Tadashi Nakamura
Duration: 54 min.

A compelling portrait of Jake Shimabukuro, an inspiring and inventive musician whose virtuoso skills on the ukulele have transformed all previous notions of the instrument’s potential. Through intimate conversations with Shimabukuro, Life on Four Strings reveals the cultural and personal influences that have shaped the man and the musician. Watch the trailer »

About OCA-Greater Houston

Founded in 1973, OCA is a national organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans in the United States. The OCA-Greater Houston Chapter was established in 1979, and works to provide strong local programs that empower the APA community through advocacy, cultural awareness, professional development, youth leadership training, and community service and education.
