Reception Celebrating 'In the Wake' Exhibition
VIEW EVENT DETAILSJoin Asia Society to celebrate its upcoming exhibition In the Wake: Japanese Photographers Respond to 3/11. Through photographs, the exhibition reflects on the powerful role of artists in the journey of recovery from cataclysmic events, as seen in these works stemming from Japan's 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and Fukushima nuclear disaster.
A conversation between Anne E. Havinga, the exhibition's co-curator, and Bridget Bray, Asia Society Texas Center's Nancy C. Allen Curator & Director of Exhibitions, will begin at 7:00 pm.

About Anne E. Havinga
Anne Havinga is the Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Senior Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA). She oversees the Museum’s photography program including exhibitions, acquisitions, and related events. In her twenty-five years at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, she has organized a variety of exhibitions, from the early history of the medium to contemporary work. She has published on a range of topics. Anne organized In the Wake: Japanese Photographers Respond to 3/11 together with co-curators Anne Nishimura Morse (the MFA’s William and Helen Pounds Senior Curator of Japanese Art) and Tomoko Nagakura (MFA Research Fellow for Japanese Art). This exhibition has been one of the most fascinating projects of her career.
In the Wake: Japanese Photographers Respond to 3/11 is organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
