Join Asia Society Texas to celebrate the opening of our new Grand Hall exhibition Lain Singh Bangdel: Moon Over Kathmandu, as we activate our Fayez Sarofim Grand Hall with works from Nepal's preeminent modern artist Lain Singh Bangdel (1919-2002).

An artist, writer, and art historian, the late Lain Singh Bangdel is a distinguished figure in South Asia's art, literature, and culture. The exhibition assembles approximately 20 of Bangdel's paintings to chart the artist's pioneering pursuit of abstraction that would help define a modern Nepal.

Enjoy light refreshments while viewing the art in this celebratory reception for our Grand Hall exhibition.

Lain Singh Bangdel: Moon Over Kathmandu debuted at Yeh Art Gallery, St. John’s University, and it is curated by Owen Duffy, Ph.D., Nancy C. Allen Curator and Director of Exhibitions; with the support of Rebecca Becerra, Exhibitions Manager; Bibhakar Shakya, Ph.D., Founder and Chairman of the Bangdel & Shakya Foundation; and Kerry Lucinda Brown, Ph.D., Professor of Art History, Savannah College of Art & Design. Special support for this exhibition is provided by Bonhams, The Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art Department.
