Asia Society Texas members are invited to an exclusive-access reception in celebration of the captivating exhibition Space City: Art in the Age of Artemis. The event includes a conversation with artist Xin Liu and access to the exhibition that assembles the work of 31 contemporary artists exploring the mysteries and wonders of outer space. Nancy C. Allen Curator and Director of Exhibitions Owen Duffy will be available to answer questions as guests enjoy the exhibition.

About the Artist
Xin Liu is an artist and engineer. She creates experiences/experiments to take measurements in our personal, social, and technological spaces in a post-metaphysical world: between gravity and homeland, sorrow and the composition of tears, gene sequencing, and astrology. Her recent research and interest center around the verticality of space, extraterrestrial explorations, and cosmic metabolism: the metabolism of our planet and how it has been affected by technological infrastructures in the past few decades.
Xin is an artist-in-residence at SETI Institute, an advisor for LACMA Art+Tech Lab, a researcher at Antikythera, Berggren Institute, the founding Arts Curator in the Space Exploration Initiative at MIT Media Lab, and the Visiting Fellow at Cornell Tech (2024-25). Xin is the recipient of numerous awards and residencies, including the inaugural K11 Artist Prize, Karman Fellowship, Porches Chinese Young Artist of the Year, Silver Arts Project in the World Trade Center , Forbes 30 under 30 Asia, X Museum Triennial Award, the Van Lier Fellowship from Museum of Arts and Design, Sundance New Frontier Story Lab, inaugural Europe ARTificial Intelligence Lab residency with Ars Electronica, SXSW Interactive Innovation Award, Core 77 Interaction Design Award, Fast Company Innovation by Design Award, Queens Museum Artist Studio program, New INC, Watermill Center and Pioneer Works.
She has led and successfully launched two International Space Station payloads and one sub-orbital flight payload onboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard system, and flown three parabolic flights.
Space City: Art in the Age of Artemis is organized by Owen Duffy, Nancy C. Allen Curator and Director of Exhibitions, with Rebecca Becerra, Exhibitions Manager and Registrar. Special support for Space City: Art in the Age of Artemis is provided by Texas Commission on the Arts and the Hollyfield Foundation. Exhibitions and their related programs at Asia Society Texas are presented by Nancy C. Allen, Chinhui Juhn and Eddie Allen, and Leslie and Brad Bucher.
