About John Teramoto
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, John Teramoto is Curator of Asian Art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Asian Art History, specializing in Japanese Art, from the University of Michigan. Teramoto has spent time in Japan as a Monbusho (Japanese Ministry of Education) Fellow, a Fulbright Fellow, and as a Visiting Scholar at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken) in Kyoto. He taught at the Japan Center for Michigan Universities in Hikone, Japan, for two years, and also served in a joint position as Assistant Professor and Curator of Asian Art at the Spencer Museum at the University of Kansas. Co-author of the catalogue, Universe Is Flux: The Art of Tawara Yūsaku, Teramoto has been at the Indianapolis Museum of Art since 2000.
