Korean Language Class: Level I (Tuesdays, Spring 2020)

VIEW EVENT DETAILS
Korean Language Class

Asia Society Texas Center, in partnership with the Houston Korean Education Center, is pleased to offer a Korean Language class for adults who would like to learn the Korean language at a beginner level.

The Korean Level I Class is an introduction to Korean through simple conversations and culture. Students will engage in basic dialogue exchanges and write short sentences, which will enhance listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The course is designed to build a foundation in the Korean language by including everyday oral communication and interactive activities emphasizing pronunciation, vocabulary, and expressions. Students will also learn the skills to read and decode the Korean alphabet.

Culture is an integral part of the curriculum. In addition to language skills, students will develop an appreciation and understanding of Korean customs, culture, philosophy, and history.

Students must also purchase their own textbook. The pricing and information for the textbook can be found here. When checking out for your textbook purchase, please write in the comment section that you are a student from the Houston Korean Education Center to receive a free shipping upgrade (Priority Mail, 2–3 days).

About the Instructor

Ha Ram Kim

Ha Ram Kim loves to share his love of languages with others. He uses his knowledge and background in many languages to make Korean more approachable even for those who are beginning to learn the language for the very first time. He taught several years in Arkansas before joining HKEC as an instructor where he's taught for a year now. His classes are structured to make the content applicable to the needs and wants of his students, whether it be travel, work, or personal interest.

Major support for Education & Outreach programs at Asia Society Texas Center comes from Nancy C. Allen, Chinhui Juhn and Eddie Allen, and Mary Lawrence Porter, as well as The Brown Foundation, Inc., and The Houston Endowment. Additional funding also provided by the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation, as well as through contributions from the Friends of Asia Society, a dedicated group of individuals committed to bringing exceptional programming and exhibitions to Asia Society Texas Center.
