In an increasingly globalized society, educators are key in building the next generation of intercultural bridge builders. Global education — in which students learn about and appreciate diverse cultures, economies, and political systems — empowers students to thrive in the 21st century by navigating and contributing to an interconnected world. In a city as diverse as Houston, embracing global education can help Houston educators foster empathy and critical thinking while preparing students to engage with a multitude of cultures and perspectives in their own communities, succeed in dynamic environments, and contribute meaningfully to the world. 

Asia Society Texas, the University of Houston Institute for Global Engagement, and the Institute of International Education, are excited to present the Houston Global Education Symposium. This professional development event is designed for P–16 educators aiming to raise awareness of the critical importance of global education and the teaching of Asia in today’s interconnected world. By fostering greater connectivity among educators, community schools, local institutions, and nonprofit organizations, the symposium seeks to equip participants with the tools and knowledge to integrate global perspectives into their teaching and leadership practices.

Symposium Details

This year's Global Education Symposium will feature two specialized tracks:

K-12 Educator Track
Focused on strategies for integrating global education into elementary, middle, and high school classrooms, this track will include practical sessions on curriculum development, classroom resources, and student engagement. 

University Educator Track 
Designed for higher education professionals, this track will explore how universities can collaborate with K-12 institutions and community organizations to advance global education for faculty and students. Sessions will cover topics such as international partnerships, study abroad programs, and global research initiatives. 

Education and Outreach programs at Asia Society Texas are presented by AARP. Major support comes from Nancy C.
